The villa is designed by Adolf Loos for the Muller family in Prague, Czechoslovakia . It might look a bit boring judging by the appearance, however you would be amazed by its richness in spatial design when you step inside.
The spatial design, also known as Raumplan is evident in the multi-level parts of individual rooms, indicating their function and symbolic importance. For example, the main hall, as a gathering place for the public and the Muller family, it has double high and can be accessed from all the circulations. As stairs go up, the rooms are actually of different symbolic importance. Garage being at the bottom level, then the entry and anteroom , the main hall is slightly higher than the entry creating a buffer zone between the Muller family and guests, dinning room is a few stairs higher than the Main Hall on the same elevation with the boudoir and library. On the top level, there is bedroom and child's room completely isolated from the public.
